Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.
The organization did not mention the player specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Claims Shared on Instagram
The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable
No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Legal Issues
The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
